About the venue

The NDSM warehouse has stood at the IJ waterfront for almost a hundred years.  From its origins as part of the former shipyard, more recently NDSM has transformed into an 'Art City' consisting of a cultural and artistic breeding ground with around 80 workspaces covering about one third of the space.

This already makes NDSM the perfect location for us to host WasteBuild, and added to that, it’s centrally located in the heart of Amsterdam's thriving architectural and circular economy – another reason why WasteBuild 23 will be an event not to be missed.

Access to the venue

Airport

Amsterdam is served by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol which is the main located around half an hour away from the NDSM. A taxi or uber can be used to access the NDSM from the airport.

By ferry

There are two free picks directly to the NDSM-wharf that are accessible to pedestrians and (brom) bikers.

From Amsterdam Central you take purple F4 ferry-line (the most left-hand ferry to “NDSM”). During peak hours, the ferry departs every quarter, outside every half hour (45 and 15). This ferry runs everyday until 00.00h. Duration is about 15 minutes.

From the Pontsteiger you will reach NDSM in about 7 minutes with the orange F7 line.

The night ferry (black line, F5) runs in a triangle past, respectively, Pontsteiger, Amsterdam Central and NDSM. Running times: between 00.00 and 02.00 from Mon-Fri, and between 00.00 and 03.00 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Current departure times of the ferries can be found here.

Taxi/Uber

There are plenty of taxis and Ubers available around the venue, but we recommend delegates only used Uber or licensed taxi companies.

NDSM is a step-free venue, however there are a few broken slabs to watch out for, but due to the age and the fact the building is listed, NDSM are unable to fix them.
